Giving your Nissan VK56 a tickle up and wanting to add some bigger cams to make a bit more power?
Chances are your engine has done a bit of work, needs a hone and a set of rings.
If you are doing a basic (basic but impressive) upgrade that is quite common for a fast street car, you are probably looking at our Billet Camshafts and a few other extras. Chances are the OEM pistons are actually strong enough (we have put 600HP through them before without any issues), but the factory valve pockets will not be big enough for performance Camshafts.
We have a small CNC program setup for increasing the valve clearance in OEM pistons. These are a cost effective option if you are not quite ready to go to our full race-spec forged pistons.
Due to the increase in Valve clearance with these pistons you will end up with compression ratio of around 9.8:1... whilst that might be quite low, with cams and a nicer intake, the VK56 can still make around 580-600HP at the flywheel (dependent on tune, exhaust etc), and you will be able to run it on any fuel that your local fuel station has.
Another bonus of using an OEM replacement piston for your fast street car is the ease of use... with our higher compression forged pistons you will always need to warm the engine up quite significantly before the piston clearance is taken up, so your engine will be noisy on startup. These Cast OEM replacement pistons have an offset pin and your engine will still be as easy to drive on a cold morning as it was in factory form.
